Integrated Mangrove Restoration and Eco-Livelihood Development (CSR Initiative of DCB Bank Limited)

1. Project Background

Gram-Utthan, in collaboration with DCB Bank Limited, is implementing the project titled “Green Livelihoods: Integrated Mangrove Restoration and Eco-Livelihood Development” to enhance environmental sustainability and strengthen community resilience. The initiative focuses on community-led mangrove plantation, community based pond cleaning and aquaculture farming, Boundary plantation around community ponds, promotion of nutri-gardens, support for duck/poultry rearing, and capacity-building activities.

 2. Location: 25 villages from 5 GPs under Rajnagar Block of Kendrapara District, Odisha.

 3. Goal: Contribute to enhance climate resilience, restore ecological balance, and promote sustainable livelihoods of vulnerable coastal and rural communities through integrated eco-livelihood interventions.

4. Project Specific Objectives

• Restore degraded coastal ecosystems by strengthening climate resilience through community-led mangrove plantation and capacity building of Mangrove Management Committees.
• Promote sustainable aquaculture through renovation of community ponds and enhance household nutrition with nutri-gardens.
• Improve income security of vulnerable families by supporting backyard poultry and duck rearing as viable livelihood options.
• Strengthen community capacities through training, awareness, and institutional support to ensure long-term sustainability of interventions.
