Silai School Training initiated in the year 2011 supported by USHA International Ltd. Over years, RSP, SIDBI, MCL and NTPC provided support for this programme.

Gram-Utthan is implementing partner of USHA International Ltd. since 2011. USHA Silai School programme both Classical and Satellite Silai school is implementing in 29 district of Odisha. We are managing 480 nos of Classical Silai School and 1058 nos of Satellite Silai School in 29 districts across the state of Odisha.

Partnership with SAIL-RSP

In the initial phase of the project, Gram-Utthan selected 40 women and provided them with comprehensive tailoring training. Upon successful completion of the training, all 40 women entrepreneurs established 40 Silai Schools in their respective localities, creating opportunities for skill development and livelihood generation within their communities.

With the support of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), SAIL, Gram-Utthan established four Tailoring Training-cum-Production Centres (TCPCs) in the Nuagaon, Kuarmunda, Lathikata, and Bisra blocks of Sundargarh District. These TCPCs were set up to strengthen the sustainability of the Silai Schools by providing advanced skill development, production facilities, market linkage opportunities, and entrepreneurship support, thereby enhancing the income and livelihoods of women entrepreneurs.
